Pete and Angela met through a series of Greek-life pledge events at Angelo State University, (Texas) that included a playful sorority kidnapping to Pizza Hut; and a courtship that eventually led to marriage. Pete graduated from Texas Military Institute, San Antonio in 1973 and then from Angelo State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in the spring of 1978. Throughout his entire life he has ranched, working summers and holidays and daily through college. Now with two grown daughters, son-in-laws and grandchildren, Pete and Angela feel blessed to be operating a strong bloodline of powerful bulls, on the remaining land comprising J.I. Case's 1880's Texas land purchase.
Pete is presently on the Texas Hereford Executive Board, and has been on the board of Tom Green County Farm Bureau for 27 years, serving two years as president. He has also served as president and secretary for the Concho Hereford Association, and secretary for the Greater Hill Country and Concho Hereford Association after they merged. Additional accomplishments include serving on the Texas Farm Bureau Sheep and Goat Committee, Project 2000 committee (a 10 year futures planning committee), and Chairman of both the Beef and the Wildlife Committees. For seven years he took a 3,000 pound horned Hereford bull named 'Landlord' to the Farm Bureau Agriculture in the Classroom program in San Angelo, where Pete introduced all of the fourth grade students to the agriculture industry. Students were stunned and amazed by the sheer size and docile nature of the gentle giant "Landlord".
Pete was appointed to serve on an American Farm Bureau Committee to study the organization's beef policy, and was honored by an appointment by the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture to serve two terms on the Cattleman's Beef Board. He also served on the U.S Senate Fund for Rural America Committee, and is a supporter of the Schleicher County Rodeo Association and the annual Schleicher County Game Dinner.
Pete works continuously to develop the quality of the registered Hereford herd. He has been a life time promoter of cattle ranching and registered Herefords.
Angela graduated from college with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology, with a Major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. During college she worked at the Texas A&M Research Center in San Angelo, Angelo Community hospital, and Shannon Hospital. She has also worked for the Schleicher County Medical Center. In 1990, Angela was hired to teach science at Schleicher County Independent School District, and for about ten years was the sponsor of the Eldorado High School Chapter of the Texas Association of Future Educators (T.A.F.E); with members holding offices at the state level and travel to the national meetings of the Future Teachers of America. Philanthropic projects included: coordination of a collection and distribution of money to a New England elementary school where a great tragedy (shooting) occurred, participation in the local T.A.F.E.chapter food bank collection; participation in the Eldorado Elementary School's Fall Festival; creation of decorations for a local nursing home; and volunteer Story Teller for pre-kindergarten program. In addition, for about ten years Angela was also a participant in the Region XV Science Collaborative and the Angelo State University Physics for Teachers association.
Pete bought Angela a new Case IH 120C tractor, so she retired from education in 2016 and started farming hay-grazer for the cattle herd - going from weekend to full time rancher!
